Palm tree is a tree which I can call a blessed tree because none of every of its part is not
useful to achieve one purpose or the other. Palm tree is a perennial crop that does not
need to be replanted annually but grows back automatically. Palm trees can survive in hot
and moist condition and can also be found in different kinds of habitats and they have a
longer life span.
Derivatives associated to palm tree are:
Coconut: from this coconut, you can also get coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut flour, and
coconut sugar and coconut water. This coconut water is used to be serving as helping clear
kidney stones, controlling blood sugar, reducing blood pressure, having antioxidants etc.
Palm fruit: Palm oil, palm kernel oil are derived from palm fruit which is used for the
consumption of human and also used in the production of cosmetics, soap, candles etc.
Also from this palm fruit, palm kernel cake can also be gotten from it which can serve as
feeds for the consumption of animals. From the processing of palm oil, during this process,
we can also get what we call fuel substance (oguso in yoruba) which is been used by the
village people to cook.
Broom: It is also from palm trees that brooms in which we use to sweep in our various
homes after the palm branches might have passes through some process.
Palm wine: It is a whitish drink tapped from a palm tree. It is also useful in the production
of Alcohol after fermentation might have gone on it.
Palm branches: In the olden days and in some part of Africa, the branches are used to as
shade to cover their houses.
Weaved baskets, weaved bags etc. are products of palm tree. Some species of palm tree
are used to beautify the surroundings, environment to make it more beautiful.
