ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IN AGRICULTURE

Artificial Insemination is a technique or a substituted way or an act of introducing the
sperm of a matured male animal directly into the reproductive system of a matured
female animal to produce offspring. With this technique, control over offspring bearing
can be controlled. Artificial Insemination procedures differs from one animal to another
and there are a lot of benefits to applying Artificial Insemination in animals; it increases
the rate at which a matured female animal get conception and it allows proper records of
such animal to be kept. Once the sperm of the male animal has been collected, even if
such animal dies, the sperm collected will still be effective. It also reduces the spread of
intercourse disease that can be transmitted from one animal to the opposite animal
during mating. Artificial Insemination also majorly run successful based on the male
animal potential to produce sperm because without it, no regeneration.
Benefit associated to Artificial Insemination:
Reduction in the spread of diseases
Reduction in the cost of maintaining the bull
It prevent injuries that may happen during mating of the animals
Sperm collected from a male animal can still be used even if the animal dies
It help farmer that cannot afford a male animal to use this substituted way.
It is cheaper than natural mating
It increases the chances of conception
There are some disadvantages that are associated to this technology, not just anybody
can do it, and it involves an expert before it can be carrying out. Male matured animal can
detect which female animal is ready for mating, with artificial insemination the detection
of female animal ready for mating will now be in the hand of the farmer, and this can as
well decrease the progeny rate if not properly monitored.
